Refund & Cancellation Policy
Effective July 2026 · Last updated July 2026
Free lessons are, and always will be, free. Paid course purchases are non-refundable once we have granted you access to the paid course, because access to the full lesson library is delivered to you immediately. Narrow exceptions apply for billing errors and for technical problems on our end, and EU/UK buyers keep their statutory withdrawal rights as described below.
1. Free lessons
Some lessons on The Markets Story are offered free of charge with a free account. There is nothing to pay and therefore nothing to refund for free lessons. You can close your account at any time.
2. Our refund stance on the paid course
Payments for the paid course are non-refundable. Once a payment has been completed — whether via PayPal (USD) or PayU (INR) — and access to the paid course has been granted to your account, the amount is not refundable, in whole or in part. This applies regardless of how many lessons you have watched.
We understand this is stricter than some other services. We've chosen this policy for two reasons:
- The course grants immediate access to the complete video library and course materials — intellectual property built from many years of work. Once we've granted that access, the value has been delivered and cannot be returned.
- Allowing refunds after access has been granted creates an incentive to purchase, copy the material, and refund — which would erode the product for the students who value it.
To make this policy fair, we are transparent about pricing up front, we offer free lessons so you can experience the teaching style before you buy, and we publish the full curriculum so you know exactly what the course covers before purchasing.
3. EU / UK buyers — statutory withdrawal right
If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content. Because the course is delivered digitally and access is granted immediately, at checkout you expressly consent to immediate access and acknowledge that you lose this 14-day withdrawal right once access begins. If you do not provide that consent, access is not granted until the 14-day period ends.
4. Narrow exceptions
There are two specific situations where we will make exceptions to the non-refundable policy:
(a) Billing errors. If you were charged in error — for example, charged twice for the same purchase due to a system bug — we will refund the duplicate or erroneous charge in full. Please email hello@themarketsstory.com within 30 days of the charge, with your account email and the transaction reference number, and we will investigate within seven business days.
(b) Technical issues that prevent access. If, due to a problem on our end, you are unable to access the paid course for an extended continuous period (typically more than 7 days), despite our reasonable best efforts and your good-faith cooperation in troubleshooting, we will refund or credit the affected purchase at our discretion. This does not apply to brief or intermittent issues that we resolve within a reasonable time, or to issues caused by your own device, network, or email provider.
These exceptions are evaluated case-by-case. We aim to be fair and we will document our reasoning when we decline or grant a refund under these exceptions.
5. If we discontinue the course
If we voluntarily discontinue The Markets Story and permanently remove access to the paid course for students generally (i.e., not as a termination of your individual account for cause), we will provide a fair refund or credit for course access purchased but not reasonably delivered. We will also provide advance notice before any such discontinuation, where reasonably possible.
6. Payment-processor disputes (chargebacks)
If you believe you have been charged in error, please contact us first at hello@themarketsstory.com before opening a chargeback or dispute with PayPal or PayU. We resolve most billing issues within seven business days, and going through us directly is faster than the payment-processor dispute process.
Chargebacks filed without first attempting to resolve the issue with us, or chargebacks we reasonably believe to be filed in bad faith (for example, after you have watched a significant portion of the course), may result in immediate termination of your account and a permanent ban from future purchases, in addition to our pursuing any amount you legitimately owe through the legal remedies available to us.
7. Contact
All refund-related requests should be sent to hello@themarketsstory.com from the email address on your account. Please include:
- The transaction reference number (visible on your receipt)
- The date and amount of the payment in question
- A clear description of the issue
We respond to refund requests within seven business days.
